The Lions have sustained yet another debilitating blow with news that injured centre Brian O’Driscoll will fly home.

O’Driscoll came off in the second half of Saturday’s Test after taking a knock to the head. On Tuesday, the Lions’ medical staff ruled him out of the third and final Test with concussion.

Coach Ian McGeechan will have to reshuffle his midfield with either Gordon D’Arcy or Riki Flutey starting at No 13.

Bok assistant coach Dick Muir told the Lions’ backline will miss the Irish talisman.

‘O’Driscoll is a class act and had a great Test series. His form in this series highlighted the importance of midfield defence, and definitely forced us to tighten up in that area.’

O’Driscoll and Adam Jones, who has had surgery to his injured shoulder, will both fly home on Tuesday.
