Richie McCaw and Rodney So’oialo have recovered from their respective ailments and have been named in New Zealand’s Tri-Nations squad.
McCaw and So’oialo missed the recent Tests against France and Italy, but will be ready to face the Wallabies on 18 July. Sitiveni Sivivatu is also back after incurring an injury at the back end of the Super 14.
Lelia Masaga and Liam Messam get the chop while lock Jason Eaton and wing Hosea Gear earn squad recalls.
Isaia Toeava is named in the 30-man squad but will miss the first three Tests with a foot injury. Flyhalf Stephen Donald is also likely to miss the Australia game because of a hamstring ailment.
Tamati Ellison, Stephen Brett, Ben Franks and Anthony Tuitavake will join the squad as cover.
Players not considered for selection due to injury include lock Ali Williams (Achilles), wing Rudi Wulf (shoulder), flanker Adam Thomson (hand), centre Richard Kahui (shoulder), lock Anthony Boric (toe), scrumhalf Andy Ellis (ribs), hooker Corey Flynn (forearm), flanker Scott Waldrom (back) and flyhalf Daniel Carter (Achilles).
