Reports from Britain suggest Gavin Henson will retire from rugby immediately.

The Sun claimed Henson, 27, told officials at the Ospreys he will not be returning to training. It is reported the club has urged him to reconsider, but they were not willing to comment at this point.

Henson has been plagued by injury throughout his career and the latest meant he was unavailable for this year’s British & Irish Lions’ tour to South Africa. After the ankle injury ruled him out, Henson publicly questioned his future in the game and pondered retiring.

‘Those thoughts run through my head,’ Henson admitted to the BBC at the time.

‘When I get knocked out with an injury, it is soul-destroying. Is it worth it?’

While the majority of the Ospreys have been attending pre-season training, Henson – along with Wales players who recently toured North America – had been given an extra month off. Club officials said they expected him to return on Monday.

    yeah never really proved himself against the top tri nations teams due to injury, had a few good games in the six nations but not as great as the welsh made out.

    After reading his book couldnt get over his attitude he just seemed like a 10 yr old spoilt brat if he didnt agree with coaches he would just walk out.

    Good player
    Very very talented 12,better than Roberts IMHO
    But never achieved his full potential due to injuries and attitude problems.

    In 2004 he killed the Boks,scored 2 tries and rans the backline raggered.

    Must go back to training and take it slow

    Overhyped like most NH players who show a glimpse of potential. Never recovered from the humiliation of the 2005 Lions tour.
