Doesn’t look good when the WINNING team’s parents want to lynch the referee then! What on earth would they do if they actually LOST? Declare war? Go on a mass stabbing spree? Should this team be allowed to play rugby against civilised people?

Incorrect TheTackler. Visiting spectators were the TYGERBERG parents. This match was a home game for Bishops. The Tygerberg coaches and parents made numerous ventures on the field, which terrifed the English referee. You can see in the article how the Tygerberg coach convinced the ref and the linesman it as a try, which is wasn’t. Spoilt the game.

#4 Predawn: I can only assume you are taking irony to a whole new level. Bastereaud subsequently admitted he made the whole thing up and injured himself while drunk. If you are looking at examples of the class in kiwi rugby look at the Umaga handbag incident, Sione assault charges, David Smith etc. It is enough to make us miss Lukas van Biljon and James Small. Hehe.

French international rugby player Mathieu Bastareaud is returning to France with a suspected broken eye socket and four stitches after he was attacked in Wellington by a group of men early yesterday morning.
The assault, by four or five men, followed France’s 14-10 second test defeat by New Zealand.

The 20-year-old centre was attacked as he went to get a taxi to take him back to the team’s central Wellington hotel.

The French team was now in Sydney ahead of their Test against the Wallabies this weekend.

The French team spokesman, Lionel Rossigneux, told Radio New Zealand they had not made a complaint to police about the attack.

“By the time he went back to the hotel, we phoned the team doctor and the team doctor gave him four stitches, what would be the point in calling the police? “In the end there wouldn’t be any way to find the people involved.” Mr Rossigneux said Bastareaud did not see his attackers.

“When we were talking with him and asking him if he could give a description, he said `No, I didn’t even know there were four or five, they just came quickly upon me and hit me…and I didn’t have time to realise what happened’.” Bastareaud’s injuries had forced his return to France.

“We offered to have him stay until the end of the tour with us, but he preferred to go back to France and go back to his family.

“It’s a sad story I’m afraid.”

The New Zealand Rugby Union said it was disappointed by the attack, which struck at its reputation as host of the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The British ref had to be “escorted from the field” to protect him from irate visiting BISHOPS parents?

Bishops — that elite private school for the rich people? And these are the ones who are in the mood to assault a referee when their team loses?

It’s really NOT a good look for Diocesan College, is it? Makes them look a bit like Delicious RFC or one of those disgusting thugby clubs.
