Robbie Deans says he will axe those Wallabies who continue to let the team down.
Deans has been criticised for choosing to focus on the positives after defeats rather than letting rip at his players. However, that is set to change after Saturday’s loss to the Boks, which was marred by indiscipline (three yellow cards) and a poor lineout (they lost nine of their own throws).
‘That is the second instance of that [after the loss to the All Blacks at Eden Park three weeks ago],’ Deans told rugbyheaven.com.au.
Asked if it was time to give his side a ‘rev up’, Deans said: ‘Clearly, if you keep going back to that trough and you can’t address the habit then, yes, there is only one other way of addressing it … and that is to remove those who are drinking from that trough.’
The Wallabies next match is against the All Blacks in Sydney on 22 August.
