No 1 spot on the line

The All Blacks have closed the gap on the Springboks at the top of the IRB world rankings.

New Zealand’s 19-18 win over Australia has seen them close the gap to 0.83 rating points, and if the Boks lose in Perth on Saturday, they will relinquish the top spot.

The All Blacks’ away win – the first in this year’s Tri-Nations – meant they earned extra points (0.94) compared to a home victory. The pair are well ahead of the chasing pack.
