Sharks’ tighthead cleared

Sharks’ tighthead cleared

Sharks prop Wiehahn Herbst has been cleared of dangerous play and will be available to play WP this weekend.

Herbst was yellow-carded for charging into a ruck in last week’s battle with Griquas and later cited for the offence. The player has since faced a disciplinary hearing and been found not guilty.

The verdict is a boost to Sharks coach John Plumtree as he already has two front-rankers in Deon Carstens and Patric Cilliers carrying niggles.

The match against WP is likely to see halfbacks Rory Kockott and Juan Martin Hernandez returning to the starting line-up after an injury layoff. Centre Riaan Swanepoel is also fit for the coastal derby.

Here is the Sharks team I think will play Saturday.
Who the capt will be is going to be interesting as Stefan has had 5 games as capt and won all … , but i guess the right thing to do would replace muller as capt.

    15 Stefan
    14 Jordaan
    13 Murray
    12 Swannepoel
    11 Mvovo
    10 Hernandez
    09 Cockott
    08 Daniel
    07 Deysel
    06 Botes
    05 Muller ( capt )
    04 Sykes
    03 Herbst
    02 Burden
    01 Carstens

    16 Skipper
    17 Cilliers
    18 Albert
    19 Downey
    20 McCleod
    21 DuMond
    22 Strauss

I realise DuMond has been brilliant but with cockott back the kicking is taken care of, thus leaving space for hernandez to slot into the pivot role

I cant see the team for saturday looking much different to this

this wiehahn is about 20 kgs overweight.

    flabby *******.

he did the “elbows high jog” on the spot for about 20 mins on sat.

    scrumming prop, nothing more.

that just doesnt cut it anymore at this level.

fitten up fatboy! then you may just make me eat my words.

SharksLover I disagree here. This weekend we have a crucial clash, why tinker with something that`s worked for us up to now? I would not bring Hernandez straight it, start him off the bench and trust Monty.
Also I wouldn`t take the captaincy away from Stefan right now, he`s doing really good.

#7 Original Pierre: A few reason Pierre

    1) He is the first choice in the absence of Ruan
    2) He is a better player overall and better defender with brilliant distribution skills
    3) He played very well when starting against the leopards untill he got injured
    4) They held back with him already as the one problem was knowing the style and moves of the sharks , It was not all about an injury
    5) He cost us a lot of mo ney and needs to be there to enhance the sharks play. we are holding him back so long his contract is nearly over  .
    6) The team i chose i never once said its the team i want to play, but the team i think will be chosen

Fact is though Pierre , Senior Hernandez will give our backline far more fire power, and yes maybe he does have the boot like Monty for accuracy to poles ???, But thats where Kockott comes in

The last thing is a coach will always go for his most dangerous and experienced team
WE might now agree , but you think for one minute Plumtree believes Monty is as good as Hernandez??

I dont think so mate, I am sure he has full belief in OUR SENIOR

    Hey Ranger

    Someone finally said it!!!

That Herbst kid is a fatshit period.Even his scrumming is not that destructive. He is like that former Shark tighthead who also played in the absence of the Boks a yrs back,ex Collegians,Glenwood Old boy bloke..forget his name.

All they do is waddle around the pitch, make 3 tackles around the fringes the WHOLE game, when they get the ball they either cant catch or flop directly to the ground giving away turnovers.

These guys make Heinke vd Merwe look like dynamic athlete

McCleod looks the goods this yr…Kockott under pressure

    Where is Len Olivier??

  • 12.sharks_lover: Reply to this comment

#11 mshiniwami: Hiyas Shimi how are you doing mate ??

Yes McCleod is playing much better and yes \Cockott has pressure now which is good.
But one must never underestimate BMT , which yes McCleod is now starting to show , But Cockott has abundance of

This is exactly why i prefer Mvovo To Vulindlu, i agree they both good and both talented
But its mvovo who is showing the BMT and the heart

And in my mind is becoming one of the better wings around , even though he is still very inexperienced

To explain to you ill give you this question , andill answer it for you too
Darryl Cullinan , Jonty Rhodes , which one was the more talented batsmen??

100% Cullinan , but whene SA was in **** , who showed BMT and heart ?? balls the size of footballs ??

This is why i rate Mvovo better, maybe soon VUlindlu will bring to the table what so many believe in , but as yet he is not

As for Olivier mate i have no idea , as he has not been playing much , so i am not sure about injuries

#10 mshiniwami: regarding Herbst , i dont fully agree

yes he is a bit over weight , but he is still stronger then the other props available to the sharks right now at TH

Cilliers since his injury has not been strong at TH

In carstens rests a lot and we forget he has been managed by the medical staff for 6 weeks now with injuries

he is hardly trainging in the week as they prepare him

We must not forget how many front row boks we have which right now is heavy on our scrumming

and also never forget a prop is like red wine , gets better with age
herbst is still a kid and if our boks were back he would be playing under 21

    Im ok bud

Mvovo is playing some good rugby, was good to see him score his first CC try on the weekend.More to come Im sure

    BUT

Proclaiming Mvovo as having higher BMT than Vulindlu is a little premature in my books.Mvovo has played a handfull of CC games and proved solid. But Vulindlu played S14 rugby before even playing CC rugby and made an impact every game he played and AT A HIGHER LEVEL.Sure he didnt start the CC well and most of it you are basing on the terrible game he had earlier this yr in the CC-vs Boland/Pumas wasnt it??-these were warm ups werent they?

Easy on the judgement…Mvovo has done well so far…Jordaan is who Im worried about..looks a little flacky to me.

Great to see Waylon back, looking good with ball in hand and running straight again…Good to see.He must be persisted with AT 13 nowhere else please.

Another citing for the Sharks. FFS our judiciary doesn’t give up do they?

And as for that Mr Burns-looking linesman… seems he only sees Sharks players infringing.. little twerp

#15 mshiniwami: agree re murray as i think with the centers there will be rotation , but ill rather play the better centers and have murray play wing then jordaan , if ya know what i mean

and yes its great to have murray back

i also think deon kayser is getting a spark into our backline

as for Mvovo ill enjoy it lol as till now he is proving me right

    #19 sharks_lover:

Sorry but Andries Strauss in no 13.Rate him at 12,he is a **** Muir type of 12 but no 13.

Glad to see Deon Kayser getting his due,was a great player and servant of Sharks/Bok rugby.SA’s version of Sam Tuitupou but with more skill, heart and pace…Humble as they get.

    Sharks team IMO

    1.Carstens
    2.Burden(finally turning the corner/developing nicely)
    3.Cilliers
    4.Sykes
    5.Muller
    6.Botes
    7.Deysel
    8.Daniel

    9.Kockott
    10.Hernandez
    11.Mvovo
    12.Swanepoel
    13.Murray
    14.Jordaan/Vulindlu
    15.Terblanche

#10 mshiniwami: That guy U thinking about is robbie someone was in glenwood 2000?

    he is SHITE…

I would persist with our team except bring swanepoel in at 12 and kockett and hernandez at 9 and 10 repectively.

Mcleod is playing nicely-nice and nuggety, very quick around the fringes.sometimes gets isolated like kockett but doesnt have the same strength as the stated player to hold on until support arrives.

Cilliers hasnt shown much strength since his return, should keep him at loosehead.

good to have barra mthetwa and hargreaves back in training .

One thing that did concern me is jordaan under the high ball.we need to get him solid.hope to see him and vulindlu compete for a place.

Was also nice to see young lambie get a run.

As far as the signing of last year Len Olivier he is in La Lucia Virgin Active flirting with young school girls…dont know why not playing
