Keo.co.za brought you live commentary from the Test in Perth.
1 min – Richard Brown makes an early mistake from Fourie du Preez’s kick that allows the Boks an attacking lineout just inside their opponents’ half. Jean de Villiers breaks off the top and feeds Jaque Fourie as the Boks come within 5m. The move comes to a halt and the Boks are blown for obstruction.
5 mins – Bok Try! The Boks show their versatility with a great drive from the pack which allows the backs to make inroads with great hands from Morne Steyn and Jean de Villiers. They win a penalty for George Smith coming in the side, Du Preez takes quickly and crashes over (7-0). Steyn adds the extra from the corner.
9 mins – Bok Try! Bakkies Botha goes down with a knee injury – a huge concern for the Boks as Andries Bekker is not the ideal replacement. Botha gets up, the first Bok scrum is solid, and Fourie ghosts through the midfield off first phase. Steyn unforgivably misses from in front however (12-0).
13 mins – The Wallabies put together their first bit of constructive play and John Smit is penalised for a side entry. Matt Giteau pulls it wide from a convenient position.
16 mins – The Boks mess up an attacking position but from the ensuing scrum Ben Alexander is penalised. Morne Steyn slots a beauty from the far right touchline (15-0).
18 mins – Interestingly, the Wallabies don’t go for poles, but the Boks easily defend the hosts’ forward attack with some abrasive hits.
22 mins – Again the hosts lose the ball in contact on attack thanks to the Boks’ vicious tackling. The Aussies win a penalty for Heinrich Brussow going offside, this time Giteau goes for poles. Again he skews it to the other side.
26 mins – Ref Bryce Lawrence continues to be strict at the breakdown, Bismarck du Plessis penalised for not rolling away. Giteau makes it third time lucky and they are rewarded for their territorial dominance in the past 12 minutes (15-3).
30 mins – Another well constructed 20m Bok rolling maul forces a penalty out of Lawrence, however, Steyn pushes it right.
32 mins – Bok Try! Du Preez’s pin point high ball is well chased by De Villiers, and the ball falls into Bryan Habana’s hands, who eases away from James O’Connor. Steyn adds the extras (22-3).
36 mins – Another Bok attacking opportunity, but this time it comes to an end after an errant pass from Morne Steyn. The Wallabies play for territory, and the Bok lineout goes astray. A string of free-kicks and penalties results in yet another chance for Giteau to reduce the deficit. He does so as the sides head into the changing rooms (22-6).
41 mins – Morne Steyn re-starts the match and the Boks win the ball back, but Habana knocks on as the Boks take it wide immediately.
42 mins – Aussie Try! The Boks stupidly take the ball wide, isolate themselves and gift a penalty to the Wallabies. They take it quickly, pin the Boks back, and JP Pietersen puts in a poor quick. Giteau ghosts over as the Boks put them back in the game (22-13).
45 mins – Lawrence is on a mission here as he continually talks to the Boks and mentions cards. They are penalised from the scrum and the Wallabies attack in the 22. The momentum is shifting, but eventually the hosts knock on.
47 mins – Another drive from Pierre Spies off the back of the scrum eases the pressure, but the kick doesn’t go out. Brussow steals the ball, and at the stoppage David Pocock comes on for Richard Brown.
49 mins – The Bok scrum is penalised again and Giteau plays for territory.
52 mins – The Boks play in the Aussie half for the first time in the second period, but Habana knocks on 2m out. Bok Try! No advantage however, and the Boks score off the scrum. Habana through the midfield gap off the set-piece, and that’s the bonus point (29-13).
56 mins – Juan Smith leaves with a shiner, Schalk Burger on. Bakkies Botha off, Bekker on. This tells immediately as John Smit is popped and concedes two scrum penalties. The Wallabies are searching for a penalty try with their scrum dominance.
61 mins – The Bok defence repels 14 phases from the Aussies as Brussow steals, with Burger making numerous tackles at close quarters. The Boks counter from their own line and the Boks end up 90m downfield.
65 mins – JP Pietersen is injured in the previous counter-attacking move and Adi Jacobs comes on. He knocks on with his first touch, but the Boks still pressurise. Finally, Lawrence awards the Boks a scrum penalty, Steyn slots it (32-13).
71 mins – The Bokslack precision on attack and the Aussies turnover ball. O’Connor surprisingly decides to kick, that was boring rugby from the hosts with the opportunity to spread the ball wide.
75 mins – Frans Steyn is on and the Boks lose a lineout in their 22. Giteau eases over for his second, but missed his drop-kick conversion from in front (32-18).
76 mins – A number of subs for the visitors. Chiliboy Rallepele, Jannie Du Plessis and Ricky Januarie on, Bismarck du Plessis, Smit, and Du Preez off.
80 mins – Another consolation try as the hosts earn a bonus point after Lachie Turner brushes off an injured Bekker. 32-25 not a fair reflection of the Boks’ dominance.
