Boks switched to Udine
9 Sep 2009
The Springbok Test against Italy in November will no longer be played in Florence.
The Boks face the Azzurri on 21 November – with internationals against France and Ireland either side – with the Test switched from Florence to Udine as an Italian Serie A soccer match was re-scheduled for Florence’s Stadio Franchi. Tickets for the Test have already gone on sale but the soccer league made a late switch without checking the availability of the ground.
‘The wish to use Florence as a venue for Italy’s future autumn internationals remains,’ said rugby federation president Giancarlo Dondi. ‘Fans with tickets will be able to obtain refunds or convert the tickets for use at the new venue. I want to thank the Udine authorities for their help.’
The week before the Bok Test, Nick Mallett’s men face the All Blacks at the San Siro in Milan.

#5 Lions_Soutie: 60,000 tickets sold already for that fixture, a record for rugby in Italy. The previous record crowd was against the Boks in Roma.

I can see it now:
‘Ag ja man, we’ve decided to stay the week in Rome , because there’s nothing there by Udine.’

We have a bit of booking chnages to make……a bit inconsiderate at this late stage. A fixture should be a fixture.
