A bit harder to say who is ‘Best’ with coaches, Id rather keep it as a Top 5. Fairly obvious that some coaches have better material to work with that others, some clubs have bigger budgets etc.

and Im sure I’ll miss someone out……altho Im sure you’ll fill in the gaps, BH. And they should be active rugby coaches.

#18 Big Hit: Im sure he has a Villa at his disposal in Rome and will have to earn his keep watching his back in the Eternal city. But he's not there fulltime from all accounts. Europhile of some diplomatic expertise Im sure, he'll need it there. I wouldnt call him THE best coach in the World but definitely in the Top 5.

I wonder what Italy are going to do when Argentina join the Tri-Nations? All of the good Argentine players will want to play for Argentina and they won’t have the Parisses and Castrogiovannis.

Mallett is the consumate Intl rugby coach. Word is that as Italia coach, he only flies in and out for the Tests tho, otherwise is personna non grata. Nice work if you can get it….

As for the Boks losses, they were completely outplayed in Perth by Aus, it wasnt down to Bok mistakes ! Interesting that he cites O’Conner intercept try as being the difference, and yet forgetting a couple of Bok victories were founded on similar scores (eg JdV at Hamilton).

PA – I think the biggest problem with Italian rugby is instinctial playing. They would do well if they competed on the 7s rugby circuit to get players use to playing fast paced insticial rugby. The speed at which the Italians clean out ht eurcks is painfully slow.

I guess if they followed the exampple of the Pumas(Argentina) and get most of their players playing in the top teams in France they will only get better.
