Benjamin dropped for bad mouth

Benjamin dropped for bad mouth

Ryno Benjamin was excluded from the Springbok Sevens team for using foul language.

Benjamin was withdrawn from the George event for disciplinary reasons on Thursday, and coach Paul Treu revealed the reason why.

‘He used foul language against me and at some members of the management team and the senior players heard it,’ said Treu. ‘This is something we as a team have addressed and the important thing now is for us a team to move forward.

‘This why we have someone here like Gavin Swanepoel [life coach], who is with the squad to assist with any situation like this. If there are any players who need assistance and help, we have the people here to assist our players.’

Meanwhile, the Boks face Fiji in the Cup quarter-final at 14:57 on Saturday in a repeat of last week’s Dubai quarter. The Boks beat Zimbabwe 29-5 and drew with Kenya 12-all in their second and third matches on Friday, but Kenya finished first in their group due to points difference.

    Treu desrved the indignity for picking a felon such as Benjamin

    Rose and Benjamin to appear in court
    Tuesday, September 09 Print Golden Lions
    rugby players Earl Rose and Ryno Benjamin will appear in the Randburg magistrates court today on alleged drug dealing charges.

    The two Lions players will appear in the dock alongside two other co-accused in charges relating to their arrest on 31 January of this year.

    Rose and Benjamin were arrested in January after being found in a flat in Fontainebleau, Randburg which contained a significant amount of illegal substances.

    The amount of drugs found in the flat has prompted the state to prosecute the players on intent to deal charges.

    A Golden Lions representative claimed that the drugs had been “planted”.

    “We are aware of the charges against them. But according to our own lawyers’ investigation into the case, the drugs were planted on the players,” GLRU chief executive Manie Reyneke told the Beeld newspaper on Monday.

    “We are convinced the case against them won’t continue.” he said.

    With thanks to the Beeld.

    @Hondo: Sounds like an open and shut case according to Manie:

    Ryno: “I have no f#in idea how the f#in drugs ended up under my f#in bed, f#”

    Judge: “They must have been planted then – case dismissed.”

    This is probably thr 10th time this past week that you posted that piece. It must give you quite a hard-on hence the repetition.

    Give us the reports in the Beeld of Japie Mulder having *** with under age girls as well to camouflage your blatant bias against rugby players of colour.

    Or Bullet trying to drown his ex-wife.

    Or Johan Roux trying to do Joost’s wife in with a few thousand bucks.

    Or Johan le Roux trying to con SARS with his export business.

    This is Hondo we talking about here, Johan.

    Why do you think he keep on repeating that piece?

    “Treu desrved the indignity for picking a felon such as Benjamin” (Hondo, p53)

    felon (plural felons)

    1. A person convicted of a felony. (Wiki)

    I don’t think that Benjamin was convicted of the charges brought against him, Hondo.

    But as we know, you are not going to allow facts to stand in your way if you have an opportunity to denigrate certain kind of players, are you?

    I think he should be chuck out of the squad for the whole season and forced to apologise to Treu, his team mates and the management team before he can be considered again.

  • 64.kriskros: Reply to this comment

    Well, they’re playing like a bunch of morons. For the second tournament in a row. But as long as they use good clean language while they do so, I suppose it’s alright.

  • 65.Hondo: Reply to this comment

    @nama1:
    Rest assured he won’t be convicted, for obvious reasons
    And it’s not his 1st, there were fe investigations prior to that in CT against him in 2005.
    How’s January’s case progresses? just curious

    More of the same,
    I don’t watch the 7s but if a felon such as Benjamon is picked to represent his country, someone may raise the integrity issue I would imagine?
    @nama1:
    Call it the education gap
    Those players NO LONGER represent their country, they are private individuals, Benjamin persumably represents SA while there is a drug trafficking case against him?
    Have you discussed the difference in the local sheben?

  • 67.nama1: Reply to this comment

    @Hondo: #65
    Fact of the matter is that he has not been convicted of any crime and therefore cannot be called a “felon”

    January will appear in court on January 22, I think.

    What are you implying? That every time a person of colour is acquitted in a court of law, it is because of his colour?

    Hondo, do you think the charge of driving under the influence made against Andre Pretorius a few years ago (while he was the incumbent Bok flyhalf) was later withdrawn because of his colour?

    He is good for a laugh sometimes. Don’t allow yourself to get worked up by him.

  • 72.Pearl Rose: Reply to this comment

    @nama1: i know he is a wind-up merchant. I guess the springboks goal kicking coach is also a “felon”

  • 73.Karma-zaf: Reply to this comment

    Earl Rose also has a drug related charge to atend to early next year in the Johannesburg High Court :)

  • 74.nama1: Reply to this comment

    @Pearl Rose:
    He ought to be if you believe Hondo’s definition of a felon. But then again, he is a bit paler so he is probably not one.

    Too many orks in the RSA sevens side… a team of big fast players will always dominate a team of fast orks… other than the odd miracle…

    @bryce_in_oz: Orks?

    As proud as you are of ET, yes?

  • 83.kwas: Reply to this comment

    @nama1: As a matter of fact, yes, I am proud of that little alien, he defines my childhood. Closest thing to ET these days probably Wall-E, but just not the same heartwarming character. Who will ever forget those iconic words ‘ET phone home’. Man, I am getting all emotional just thinking about it. ET fan forever!

    Die onderstaande is wat ‘n blogger genaamd Kwas skryf op PRAAG se website. Is julle dieselfde persoon?

    We won the Sevens Championship under Paul Treu last season…

    How does he suddenly become a kak coach…?

    Of course it has nothing to do with the attitude and execution of the players…

    Once again… when we do well and win… the players are fantastic… when we do badly and lose… the coach is kak…

    great to see all the knowledgeable analytical rugby brains at work… :roll:

  • 86.Touchrugby: Reply to this comment

    Treu is not a kak coach.

    NZ and Fiji have retained the cores of their squads from last year, most other nations,incl SA have not got that core avalible for whatever reason

    Our guys need to gell properly and develop a “team understanding” and then and only then will they play to their potential.
