Blitzboks lose skipper

Paul Delport will miss the next two sevens tournaments because of ankle and arm injuries.

Delport will be sidelined for up to 12 weeks as he injured his ankle against Zimbabwe at the George Sevens. It has been reported that he has also picked up an upper arm injury.

This means that the Springbok Sevens’ captain will be ruled out of the next two legs in New Zealand and USA.

This will be a big blow for the Springbok Sevens as they will try to get their World Series title defence back on track after a disappointing start.

These dragons need more gas men. I watched all our games at the George series and we seem to have lots of honest, hard-working players but Cecil Afrika aside, no real pace to finish off moves.

Russel- could have been an all time legend in Sevens
    Chavanga
H Mentz (need the size but only if he can catch the ball)
    Mvovo from the Sharks

Having Renfred Dazel back with help a lot.

We’re missing the finishing and pace of Ebersohn this year and the same things from Vuyo Zangqa, Gio Aplon and Fabian Juries.

Also the power of Philip Snyman in the scrums and tightloose.

All in all we’re just short on quality this year

Paul Treu should start looking at provincially contracted players who are on the edge of selection rather than hanging out at a Maties training camp looking to pick the Springbok 7′s squad.
