Marius Schoeman says teams from the UK National Sevens rugby series have expressed interest in several Springbok Sevens players.
The sevens series has not yet been confirmed but players have already been approached. If the tournament gets the go ahead, 10 UK teams will compete in four tournaments and each team will have a squad of 20 players, of which 10 can be foreign. It will run in June and July, a few weeks after the Sevens World Series concludes.
Boks stalwart Schoeman told Die Volksblad that he has been approached by one of the teams to to consider a player-coaching role.
He also added that the team expressed interest in other players, such as Blitzboks Frankie Horne and Ryno Benjamin and Stormers winger Fabian Juries.
‘They asked me about Fabian. He will definitely be in demand,’ said Schoeman. ‘They will probably look to get a few Super 14 players there to make it more attractive. But I don’t know if they will succeed.’
