Palu next to quit Wallabies?
According to The Australian, Wycliff Palu could be the next Wallabies player to retire from Test rugby.
It has been reported that Palu has received lucrative offers from Japan and France, which could steer the 28-year-old away from extending his current contract with the ARU and Waratahs that expires this season.
This will be a big blow for the Wallabies heading into the 2011 World Cup as veteran George Smith announced his retirement last week.
Waratahs head coach Chris Hickey said the Sydney franchise will do everything possible to keep Palu in Australia.
‘Cliffy’s form on the Wallabies’ tour last year indicates how important he is to us,’ Hickey said.
‘He found good form on tour and he has been in good form for us in the [Super 14] trials. He is one of the strongest ball carriers in Australian rugby. We are speaking to Cliffy about his future and he’ll make a decision in a short period of time.’

@flanka: Elsom is more important , Palu has a long way to go before becoming a world class no 8

Seems Ozzie rugby is not a happy place at the moment.

@stew: elsom is as good as he’ll ever get…and he tends to disappear against quality opposition (namely boks and nz)….sure he was devastating in ireland but where was he last year?? flat track bully…whereas palu had the raw tackle-breaking strength and was starting to brush up on his ballskills

He’s slightly less useless than Lauaki, overrated butterball.
Have your say
