Sevens Boks march to Cup quarters

Sevens Boks march to Cup quarters

The Springbok Sevens team will face New Zealand in the Cup quarter-final of the Las Vegas tournament.

The Sevens Boks played some good rugby in their final pool game against Fiji, but failed to capitalise on possession and ultimately lost 12-5. This meant they finished second in the pool, and face New Zealand, who qualified with a hat-trick of wins.

Earlier in the day the Sevens Boks hammered the USA and Canada 33-12 and 33-0 respectively. The other Cup quarter-finals feature Fiji taking on Australia, Samoa versus Wales and England facing Kenya.

@WP_: Yah…but when they come up against the AB’s or Fiji expect them to choke..(again)…too small, too arrogant…

Nah they wont choke, they’re just not good enough.

Missing big name players from last season:

    Ebersohn, Aplon, Zangqa, Juries, Snyman…

    Too many to be competitive

@WP_: squandering a 17-0 halftime lead as did in the plate final in welling can certainly be classified as choking…

i do agree with losing so many of the so called first choice players that they will battle, but has to be questioned whether these guys are in deed the best rugby players outside the 120 odd playing super 14 — i highly doubt it unless you are blind in more than one sense

think i have to agree with the storm outta hell…
definately arrogant, and really dont want to say it but small…

committment also seems to be lacking…

considering we are building….pathetic excuse as always, im pretty sure we could get a more competitive team from the varsity cup or even stellenboschs koshuis…but we have to make up the numbers (thats for you skopskiet you doos!)

olympic medal? what a joke…time to wake up and be professional

Fiji whacked SA yet again. Definitely have the wood on the blitzed Boks.

Sevens are not treated with a lot of respect in SA, unfortunately. The players are treated as spare parts for the super franchises. Don’t expect this to change soon.

SA to play NZ in the quarters…

Well at least we have a better chance of beating them than we do/did of beating Fiji

@8 Stormer in a Teacup that’s no different to the situation in NZ and Australia. Sevens players have different skills to 15-a-side players. In fact in NZ the majority of Sevens players don’t play super rugby at all.

@whatever: Im not to worried its a win win for me. but looks like Samoa has won so congrats to Samoa and good effort to the kiwi boys.

To the blitzbokke seriously change the name, go back to being SA then maybe you’ll win rather than being blitzed

Yeah, I know what you mean. It’s a similar alalysis that comes around every 4 years when the no1 side as per the table can’t win the comp :)
