Chiefs lose lock

Chiefs lock Kevin O’Neill will return to New Zealand after suffering an Achilles injury against the Sharks last Saturday.

The Chiefs got their season underway with a tight 19-18 win in Durban, but will now be without O’Neill who impressed in the first stanza before limping off at half-time.

After a medical examination in Durban, it was confirmed that O’Niell would be sidelined for the next three weeks. He will go for further testing once he returns to New Zealand.

Romana Graham, who will make his Super 14 debut, fills in for O’Niell and will arrive in South Africa on Monday night.

    It seems like achilles injuries for locks are all the rage these days, what happened to the good old slipped-disk or knee cartilege ?
