Stomach bug sidelines Cueto

Mark Cueto may miss England’s match against Ireland after sitting out Thursday’s training with a stomach bug.

While the wing has not been ruled out of Saturday’s match, Northampton’s Chris Ashton has joined the England squad as a precaution. England captain Steve Borthwick, Simon Shaw, Toby Flood and Shontayne Hape have already suffered from stomach upsets during this Six Nations campaign.

If Cueto fails to recover, the uncapped Ashton may get a run or Martin Johnson could start Mathew Tait on the wing.

Mallett covets consistency

Nick Mallett has named an unchanged side for Italy’s clash with Scotland.

The Azzuri pushed England hard two weeks ago but ultimately succumbed to a 17-12 defeat. Centre Gonzalo Garcia missed training on Tuesday, but will be fit to play.

South African-born lock Carlo Del Fava is on the Italian bench after returning from keyhole surgery on his knee.

Italy – 15-Luke McLean, 14-Andrea Masi, 13-Gonzalo Canale, 12-Gonzalo Garcia, 11-Mirco Bergamasco, 10-Craig Gower, 9-Tito Tebaldi, 8-Alessandro Zanni, 7-Mauro Bergamasco, 6-Josh Sole, 5- Marco Bortolami, 4-Quintin Geldenhuys, 3-Martin Castrogiovanni, 2-Leonardo Ghiraldini (c), 1-Salvatore Perugini.
Subs: 16-Fabio Ongaro, 17-Matias Aguero, 18-Carlo Antonio Del Fava, 19-Paul Derbyshire, 20-Pablo Canavosio, 21-Riccardo Bocchino, 22-Kaine Robertson.

Unfortunately, Italians are consistent. Only one win (if that happens at all) in 6N is a norm. Completely toothless in the dull first game vs Irish, spirited yet again no cigar vs rather dull English. I’m afraid they will lose even to the Scots this time. Hope to be wrong.

If we lose, it’s all Suzie’s fault
