Tietjens turns down EP
17 Mar 2010
Gordon Tietjens will not help Eastern Province during this year’s Currie Cup.
As reported on keo.co.za last week, EPRU president Cheek Watson was in talks with the New Zealand Sevens coach and former All Black Justin Marshall with a view to joining the province this year.
Tietjens said he wouldn’t be able to take up an advisory role due to Commonwealth Games commitments, while it’s still unclear whether Marshall will join.
However, Tietjens’ New Zealand Rugby Union contract does end after the Commonwealth Games.
‘I’ve had brief discussions, there’s nothing permanent,’ said Tietjens. ‘It won’t happen because it clashes with Commonwealth Games preparations.’

Cheeky is going to need more than a retired AB and a sevens coach.
