Jake believes in Jeppe

Saturday’s match between Jeppe and KES will be a tight encounter, according to Jake White.

Both schools recorded notable victories last weekend with KES defeating Pretoria Boys (28-19) and Jeppe beating St John’s (13-7) for the first time in six seasons.

‘It really is pleasing to see that the biggest schoolboy game in Johannesburg will be a close affair,’ said White, who will be at his former school to observe the talent on show. ‘Both sets of old boys will admit that the standard of their rugby wasn’t great a few years ago, but they have made a concerted effort to get things right.’

KES will start as favourites after last year’s 65-10 annihilation of their old foes, but Jeppe director of rugby Ronald White believes they can reverse that result at home.

‘We will back our talent and ability to win our first derby since 2002,’ he told keo.co.za. ‘It should be a wonderful spectacle and we are hoping to perform well for the full 70 minutes on Saturday. It’s going to be a wonderful opportunity for the boys involved to showcase their talent live on television [14:45 on SuperSport 7].’

If the Reds are to maintain their stranglehold over their arch-rivals, they will have to neutralise Jeppe’s exciting centre pairing of Grant Noble and Ricky Matteucci, as well as No 8 Arnold Vosloo. While KES will rely on the boot of scrumhalf Ruan van Rensburg to keep the visitors inside their own half, they will also look to move the ball wide in an attempt to wear out Jeppe’s pack.

Jeppe – 15 Chumi Matsiliza, 14 Kyle Green, 13 Grant Noble, 12 Ricci Matteucci, 11 Sifiso Shabangu, 10 Sergio Peral, 9 Devan McDermid, 8 Arnold Vosloo (c), 7 Kyran Odendaal, 6 Louis Meyer, 5 Devon Abbot, 4 Marius Vosloo, 3 Boni Syiathula, 2 Duane Goodes, 1 Danny Whyte.
Subs: 16 Jarred Engelbrecht, 17 Lee Morris, 18 Bruce Richardson, 19 Peter Ngoveni, 20 Donovan Saunders, 21 Fabrice Renaud, 22 Eddy Silva.

KES – 15 Aaron Jackson, 14 Burt Fraser, 13 Lonwabo Ntleki, 12 Travis West, 11 Senzo Shabalala, 10 Kazlo Holtzhauzen, 9 Ruan van Rensburg, 8 Malcolm Marx, 7 Christian Kazadi (c), 6 Sean Johnstone, 5 James Somers, 4 Simphiwe Nkosi, 3 Gey Domaingo, 2 Stefan van Rooyen, 1 Brett Grant.
Subs: To be confirmed.

    My good mate was expelled from Jeppe by JW circa early-80′s. To this day he has yet to forgive him on the basis it was an ambitious young teacher on an ego-trip farking about with a 16yr olds life.

    Id be interested to know how many real friends JW really has. Other than Clive.

    Surely only the headmaster can expell someone..

    Anyway it’s a third rate school.. I’d say they did your mate a favour..

    @gunther:

    I believe he was a House Master at the time, or a wannabe-HM (the worst kind).

    House Masters snitch; Head Masters expell.

    The best House Masters (in my experience) were the ones who didnt snitch.

    JW snitched.

    Fair enough … Only crime I can think of that fits that punishment is getting caught sleeping with the housemasters young wife usually the preserve of the prefects…

    Still a third rate school though,.

    @gunther:

    will take yer word for that.

    During my 7th Form, 1 of the House tutors shagged the Housemasters daughter (also in my class). Reeeeeeeee spect.

    Great thing is in those boarding schools, everyone knew long before the Head (fnaar).

    If I were JW, I would be more concerned about the Lions. Last time I heard he was some technical advisor or director of some sorts at the Lions. Apparently he is currently more interested in Jeppe (Scouting for talent?????) then the Lions. Why not put the Lions against the losing team of this school’s match? The Lions might pick up a draw. Winning ways, Jake my son or losing ways?

    Jake is pure trash nothing short of it. Dunno how such rubbish ever got his opportunistic manipulative *** as far as bok coach. Real second grade rubbish and poor John Smit has to carry that schmuck *** legacy around forever.

    Thats the price you pay for being a twitty two face schoolmasters lackey.

    out the mouths of babes comes unadulterated wisdom. Sister Sarah the veritable Joan of Arc of pure bred rugby enthusiasm. Pity the two faced manipulative unscrupulous schoolmasters can’t boast the same qualities as the children they supposed to be teaching, coaching and mentoring.

    Well done to Jeppe. They tackled well and were very physical to win 17 – 13, despite missing a raft of kicks. KES did not resemble the side that beat Boys High last week, but this partly due to the pressure Jeppe put them under. Good to see Jeppe playing well again.
