Dale and St Andrews secured big wins at the Graeme Rugby Day on Saturday.
Graeme hosted their annual rugby festival which saw the top Eastern Cape schools compete. Glenwood was the only school from out side the province invited to take part.
In the opening fixtures, Brandwag thumped Cambridge 48-8 while Hudson Park edged Nico Malan 15-14 in a tight contest.
Dale surprised with a 14-7 win against Framesby. Framesby were expected to dominate as they had bigger and more physical players, but Dale’s superior skill with ball in hand saw them triumph.
Wing Yamkela Ngan and centre Andile Jho crossed the chalk for the latter.
Selborne were impressive in their 25-10 win over Marlow and Grey High beat Kingswood 17-5.
St Andrews then pulled off the biggest upset of the day as they beat Glenwood 20-7. Glenwood were recognised as the second best school in the country last year.
In the final game, hosts Graeme lost 20-14 against Queen’s.
