St Andrew’s will be looking to end a five-year losing streak to Bishops when they clash at the Piley Rees field this Saturday.
The Grahamstown school claimed a surprise 20-7 win over Glenwood this past weekend at the Graeme College Rugby Day.
‘It was a really good win for us and has given us much needed confidence going into Saturday’s clash,’ said St Andrew’s 1st XV coach Alan Miles. ‘But we will start as underdogs having lost 64-10 at Bishops two seasons ago.’
Bishops will want to kick off the Cape season with a win, before leaving on Sunday for a 14-day tour of Italy. Last season’s encounter against Saints was a tight affair with Dave Mallet’s men recording a 17-15 win.
The scrumhalf battle between the hosts’ Guy Whitfield and Saints captain Ryan Dugmore, who is in his third season of 1st xv rugby, should be an intriguing contest.
Kick-off is at 12:00.
