those present at newlands yesterday were treated to some delightful games with the encouragement from the stands being overwhelming.
the spirit of these learners bodes well for the future.
it was also interesting to note that when paarl gym formed up in front of their supporters after the game for the school song scalk burger an old boy who was alogside the touchline stood to attention.
the games were tough and played in very fine spirit as that should always be the case.
the closest game of the day was between bishops and boland landbou ,bishops winning 10 -5 scoring the winning try on fulltime.
the bishops full back impressed me with his wonderful distribution of the ball and superb speed in his run down the touchline only being stopped from a certain try by an equally magnificent tackle by his opponent.
thanks to all who made this schools day a memorable occasion

Lol, Boland was looking average. Lucky Bishops did put 3 more tries past them. I think I recall counting Bishops getting tackled twice out 1m before the line and two other tries scored in the corner, being disallowed by the linesman (stating the Bishops player stepped out before the line). I don’t think Boland were in the Bishops 22m once in the 2nd half.
Paarl Gym, Paarl Boys and Paul Roos looking good/solid.
Have your say
