South Africa recorded a 28-15 win over Zimbabwe on day one of the Hong Kong Sevens tournament.
The three-day Hong Kong leg of the Sevens World Series kicked off on Friday, with South Africa and Zimbabwe featuring in the last match of the day.
Cecil Afrika starred for the defending champions, scoring 18 points through a brace of tries and four conversions.
Zimbabwe opened the scoring with a try but Mpho Mbiyozo and Afika crossed the chalk for a 14-7 lead at half-time.
South Africa scored another two tries to seal the win.
In other results, Fiji (82-7 against Thailand), New Zealand (59-5 against Chinese Tapei) and Samoa (40-12 Italy) all had strong starts on day one.

A win against Zim is not a strong start, beating them should be a mere formality.

@Blue Nine: Yep…not very convincing,last try far too easy for Zim…I don’t see these baby blitzbokkies getting past the AB’s,Fiji or Samoa
