Bishops march on in Italy

Bishops crushed Lyons Piacenza’s U19 team 87-0 on Wednesday for their fourth successive tour victory.

The Cape Town school would almost certainly have passed the 100-point mark had their coaches not asked the referee to blow for full-time with 10 minutes still to play.

Bishops scored 13 tries, with Dillyn Leyds and Liam Petersen each grabbing a double. Timo Swiel contributed 19 points via a try and seven conversions while James Crowson came away with a 13-point haul (a try and four conversions).

Bishops began their tour with a 48-36 win over Lazio last Wednesday, before scoring 12 tries in a 74-8 thrashing of Rugby Roma last Friday. They then beat Nonceto’s U20 side 52-14 on Monday.

Their final game is on Friday against the North East Province U20s.
