Bishops upset Boishaai

Bishops picked up a big away win as they came from behind to beat Paarl Boys’ 12-11 on Thursday.

Paarl, who had to leave for Pretoria the next day for the SuperSchools festival, surged into a 11-0 lead after flyhalf Gavin Hauptfleisch kicked two penalties and outside centre Heinrich Bojé dived in at the corner.

Bishops fullback Tim Swiel opened his team’s tally with a penalty before the break as the score read 11-3 at half-time.

Paarl were expected to finish their southern surbarb counterparts in the second stanza, but Swiel kicked another three penalties to clinch the win for Bishops.

The win was a special one for Bishops as they suffered a hiding on their home field last year against Boys’ High.
