Bad break for Akona

Bad break for Akona

Bulls wing Akona Ndungane has again broken his leg, this time during training on Wednesday.

Ndungane suffered the exact same injury in last year’s Currie Cup and was expected to start in this weekend’s derby against the Sharks after playing for the Vodacom Cup side.

Francois Hougaard, who was a late withdrawl from the team that beat the Lions, is now expected to start on the wing at Loftus on Saturday.

    Dam that sucks for him. Could be the end of his career. Was it a freak accident?

    Ndungane was running back to fetch a kick when he turned and slipped on the wet field, going down with his team-mates hearing a loud crack. He was taken to the Little Company of Mary hospital.

    @Sonito(Sonito)-3:

    Were the Bulls practicing in Chicago? Have they not had enough jet lag yet after coming back from down under?

    Ai Akona, my hart bloei vir jou. As Akona volgende jaar terug kan kom, sal dit een van die beste “comebacks” wees in jare. Die arme man se kuite is so dun, dit verbaas my nie. Wat ‘n goeie rugbyspeler, sal jou mis in die Curriebeker.

    Dit gee darem vir John Mametsa nog ‘n geleentheid – die man dien die Bulle / Bulls met ‘n groot hart en gee altyd 110%.

    Tussen Akona, Jaco Pretoors en Chilliboy het die Bulls genoeg beserings vir die hele span. Hopelik bly die beseringspook weg van die res.

    Hate to be pessimist but I think thats the end of him. Henno Mentz had a similar injury and he never came back! Joos Joubert was probably the only one ever to come back as good as b4, even Andre Snyman was never the same after two broken ankles!

    The Bulls don’t need that quota, they have good wings who score tries aplenty

    Thats a real shame, I was looking forward to him come back instead of Hougaard.

    Good luck to him.

    I really feel sorry for ndungane but that`s life and it cannot be undone,however this is a great chance for HDH to prove himself to the rugby public that he is the BEST right wing in SA rugby.He is obviously a bit inexperienced at the moment at super14 level,but he will get better with every game he plays and i hope he steers clear of any serious injury(ihope for that for all the bulls players)because he is surely a springbok wing in the making.
