Brandwag bash Muir
29 Apr 2010
Brandwag claimed a convincing 32-5 away win against Muir in their annual Uitenhage derby.
The Herald newspaper reports that the visitors provided a fine display of running rugby despite icy rain and wind.
In the first half, centre and wing Enrico Germishuys scored tries for Brandwag, with flyhalf Franz Botha converting Pieterse’s try. It was the only successful conversion of the day due, in part, to the howling wind.
Muir hit back when Shane Gates went over from a quick tap to make it 12-5 at half-time.
After the break, the visitors ran in tries by hooker Lester Harrop, Germishuys, captain and prop Joel Erasmus and wing Dillon Hopshire.
