Aussies scrape into final
14 May 2010
Michael Hussey’s 60* off 24 balls secured Australia a three-wicket win over Pakistan with one ball remaining in the second World T20 semi-final.
Kamran Akmal gave Pakistan a solid start as he smashed 50 off 34 balls while his brother Umar continued the momentum with a quick-fire 56 off 35 balls. This helped the Pakistanis set a target of 192 as they finished on 191-6 after their 20 overs.
Mohammad Aamer dismissed the Aussies’ openers David Warner and Shane Watson in his first two overs to hamper their chase. The top and middle order failed to fire until Cameron White gave his team some hope by smashing 43 off 31 balls. However, they continued to lose wickets.
Struggling at 144-7 at the start of the 18th over, Pakistan must have thought they did enough to book themselves a place in their second conescutive final. However, Hussey played a match-winning innings to stun the defending champions as Australia reached the 192 target at the death.
This sees Australia meet England in the World T20 final on Sunday.
Pakistan 191-6 (20 overs)
Umar Akmal 56, Kamran Akmal 50, David Hussey 1-24.
Australia 197-7 (19.5 overs)
Michael Hussey 60*, Cameron White 43, Mohammad Aamar 3-35.
Australia won by three wickets

Well done! It looked pretty much all stitched up earlier on. Shows what amazing depth Aus have!
At least it will make for a more interesting final with the SA B side.

Ironically the B team were the okes “who never stood a chance” of playing for SA. Go figure

The more saffas in a side the more likely they are going to lose against Aus.
