Bakkies decision deferred
17 May 2010
Bakkies Botha will have to wait until Tuesday to learn his Super 14 fate.
Botha was expected to receive a two-match ban on Monday, a suspension that would see him missing Saturday’s semi-final against the Crusaders and a possible final. He attended a disciplinary hearing on Monday that lasted for four hours but the Judicial Officer, Peter Ingwersen, will only give his verdict in the matter on Tuesday.
The Springbok lock was cited following Saturday’s match between the Bulls and Stormers for ‘dangerously and recklessly entering a ruck without using his arms or grasping a player’. Botha made contact with Stormers right wing Gio Aplon in the second minute of the match and Aplon required treatment on the field as a result.

@Shaunsagod(Shaunsagod)-143:
you also get that warm fuzzy feeling when you see aplon running around?
@ufo(ufo)-144: dont be a drama queen. bakkies was clearing a ruck, not acting out a serial killer fantasy.
i watched the game indeed and flinched at the collision, but thats why i watch rugby and not snooker.
@grant10(grant10)-145: well done grant, so noble.
are you saying being white is something i cant be proud of?
or say out loud?
if i was zulu could i say “hey, i’m a zulu!”?
would that be okay?
ok, i am out for a bit. dont skinner about me now guys ok?

@ufo(ufo)-149:
absolutely – you fans have waited long enough (and been loyal enough) so deserve it.
i am just wary of these 2 visiting teams though, both playing smart rugby.
will be pissed off if the final is in sydney

Everybody assumes that the incident is exaggerated because of Aplons size… If it was not for Aplons agility and size he would be dead… If schalk burger was in that position he would be dead.. The contact would have been greater and much more profound.. There would have been broken bones and in this case fracture skull and brain damage.. Jones was fked after bakkies hit..

@charo(charo)-152:

but i really do hope both SA teams win and the final is in Soweto…

@ufo(ufo)-156: ag arme bakkies.
oh well, bygones.

@rangerman(rangerman)-151: Looks like Bakkies got himself a cup of STFU.
This guy may fool some (post match interview) but for me anyone that repeatedly comes before the citing commission is a recidivist. The guy has to be as dumb as dog $hit.

@rangerman(rangerman)-157:
seriously ranger I’ve been a huge fan of his… but he’s doing this much too often for it to be ‘just rugby’…

@RugbyRulz(RugbyRulz)-158: @ufo(ufo)-159: well it looks like bakkies will be fresh for nz at least.
18 May 2010, 12:30 pm
@rangerman(rangerman)-160: Mate the guy will probably get cited again. I don’t see the purpose of his behaviour… then again if he spends enough time suspended he may well be around for the 2015 WCup

Wow
now everyone agrees that Bakkies has gone “too far……again” and is a “serial offender” for the same offence of taking out opposition at the ruck.
I could have sworn there was someone around here brave enough to say exactly that, around 1 year ago, and was screamed at for being a rugby-heathen.
well well well.
How about that then.
