54 mins: Wales are 8m out, but Januarie makes a crucial steal. Steyn clears down to halfway.

53 mins: Boks concede a free kick at the scrum for early engagement and the pressure is back on to the visitors and Wales are on the front foot.

52 mins: Wales find field position in the Boks’ half after Januarie blown for offside, but Hook knocks the ball forward on the 22m line.

50 mins: South Africa break into Wales’ 22m area but struggle to put together any options. Pienaar goes for the drop goal attempt but it goes wide.

48 mins: Pienaar puts up the Gary Owen and the Boks are awarded with a scrum after Wales are blown for accidental obstruction.

47 mins: Boks again on their way to the Welsh red zone with another attack. But Steyn gets in wing Basson’s way and the ball goes forward. Scrum to Wales.

45 mins: Wales on attack from the restart and look like scoring from the kick-off. However, Boks infringe at the breakdown and break momentum by conceding the penalty. Jones converts the three-pointer. 21-19 to the Boks!

43 mins: The Boks attack from the scrum and settle on the Welsh 22m line. Januarie passes to lock Danie Rossouw and an offload to Potgieter sees the flank cross the chalk for the Boks to take the lead. Pienaar’s conversion makes it 18 unanswered points. 21-16 to the Boks!

41 mins: Wales kickoff and Boks gain ground through a good rolling maul. The Welsh manage to get hands on the ball but a knock on awards the Boks with a scrum.

Half-time: Wales 16 Boks 14

40 mins: Boks win penalty inside their 22m area on the half-time mark. Pienaar opts for the quick penalty tap and the visitors gain 50m, but Wales win possession and kick the ball out to end the half.

39 mins: Boks in a good position to take the lead as they have a put in to the scrum inside the Welsh red zone. However, as the Boks scrum forwards, flank Dewald Potgieter breaks early and is penalised. Wales clear play away from their half.

38 mins: Boks seem more confident now and pin Wales back in their half with clever kicks. Wales are rattled after the Boks surged back into the game.

35 mins: Boks break into Welsh territory again and the hosts are blown for offside. Pienaar reduces the difference to two points with his third penalty. 16-14 to Wales!

33 min: Ndungane cries off with an injury and replacement wing Bjorn Basson gets an early run.

32 mins: Centre Jaque Fourie’s clearance from the restart sees the ball slide off the side of his boot. But the Boks win their second consecutive lineout from a Welsh throw.

30 mins: From a poor Jones clearance, South Africa gain momentum on attack again. It ends up scrappy but wing Odwa Ndungane finds enough space out wide to dive in at the left corner. Pienaar misses the difficult conversion. 16-11 to Wales!

28 mins: Wing Tom Prydie’s kick crosses the dead ball line and gifts the Boks a scrum in the Welsh half. Boks run off on a good attack but Steyn is tackled out inside the Welsh 22m area.

25 mins: Boks penalised at the scrum and Wales kick for field position, just inside the visitors’ half. But Boks win ball from the resulting lineout.

22 mins: Wales lock Deiniol Jones penalised for an illegal charge. Pienaar kicks his second penalty to make it a 10-point game. 16-6 to Wales!

20 mins: Boks make a good steal at the breakdown. However, from the resulting attack, captain John Smit holds on to the ball too long and throws an intercept pass for Hook to score. Jones adds the extras. 16-3 to Wales!

18 mins: From the restart, tighthead prop BJ Botha penalised for obstruction as lock Victor Matfield catches the ball. Jones restores Wales six-point lead with his second three-pointer. 9-3 to Wales!

16 mins: Wales penalised on the 40m inside their half after tackler not rolling away. Pienaar lines up his first attempt and it scrapes inside of the left post. 6-3 to Wales!

12 mins: Boks win scrum in a promising position in the Welsh red zone. However, they lacked the composure to capitalise. Januarie force to run the ball after an untidy scrum and penalised for holding on.

11 mins: Wales struggle to build momentum and run out of attacking options. Hook stands in the pocket and slots a drop goal. 6-0 to the Wales!

10 mins: Boks find space on attack, but fail to secure possession at the breakdown and centre James Hook steals the ball and hacks ahead. Steyn covers at the back but is forced into a poor clearance.

9 mins: Wales take the lead as Jones converts the penalty. 3-0 to Wales!

8 mins: Scrumhalf Ricky Januarie blown for incorrect entry at the ruck. Wales pivot Stephen Jones gets the first goal attempt of the game.

5 mins: Wales on the attack from the lineout and carry the ball through several phases. However, the home team concede a penalty after good defence from the Boks.

3 mins: Springboks meet some stern defence from the Welsh. Fullback Frans Steyn kicks for field position but the ball goes out on the full.
