15 Jun 2010
England beat the Australian Barbarians 15-9 in a kicking-fest in Gosford.
Olly Barkley kicked three penalties and Charlie Hodgson two as the Poms claimed their first win of the tour. Aussie replacement Berrick Barnes kicked three penalties, while the scores were locked at 6-6 at the break.

Yup, I watch most games I can, this was not a great game though.

@PissAnt(PissAnt)-4: May not bother then. What a shame. I really enjoy watching the Barbarians games in general. I am a bit of a rugby junkie and will watch most rugby offered on Sky here in the UK, and that means a lot of rugby.

@Boer in beton(Boer in beton)-5:
If anything it gives good insight into both teams second stringers and new guys, but the rugby was stop start really.
Rugby junkies will still watch it because it gives you an idea what we will see from both teams in the next year or two!
But if you are into rugby spectacles or good games, this is one to miss.
It was more of a heavy weight clash going 15 rounds than a 3 round cage fight.

Watched the game as an England fan it dire. Apart from the first 20 minutes when Dominic Waldouck looked impressive on his first start and go injured we didnt look the same. It was a dreadful game.
I can only think of a few positives from the game Dave Attwood has to be given a chance in the 1st eleven. Hes looks superb got everything a lock needs plus pace, soft off loads and real agression. Hes got something of the Simon Shaw about him but hes a leader as well. For a 22 heslooks pretty darn good
Dominic Waldouk seen him play plenty at wasps hes the only centre we got who can unlock tight defences. Hes got this ability to beat his first man, great step of either foot, unbelievable accleration, and plays heads up rugby. He was quite good for his first game for England. Hes 22 but he should have been in the squad earlier.
Jon Golding was a monster in a scrum. Ppl say hes better than Andrew Sheridan. Hes a brilliant scrumager i think we saw that in the scrums today but when he went off you could see we werent as strong. Hes very good in the loose and hes got great tackling, work rate ability. He should be our number loose head in my opinion.
Golding, thompson, cole looks a quality front row.

Oh dear this was a game for the recycle bin. A total kick-a-thon, thought I was watching a NH club match.
Oh, well done England.

@NSWStormer(NSWStormer)-8: And this is the place that the ARU threatened to take future tests to after Canberra managed to get “only” 16,000 attendees to that 2nd rate Fiji test match.

@Boer in beton(Boer in beton)-5: This was a Barbarians team only in name, in reality it is Australia A v England A.
Have your say
