Pumas’ stars won’t start

The Pumas have left out a couple of their senior backs for their clash against the Bulls at Loftus on Friday.

Scrumhalf Jacques Coetzee, who played for the Lions in the Super 14, and wing Alistair Kettledas, who was the division one top try-scorer last year, are on the bench for the newly promoted side in their match against the defending champions.

Coach Jimmy Stonehouse has opted for Ricardo Croy ahead of Elgar Watts at flyhalf, while he has also not used many of the players who performed last year.

Pumas – 15 Carl Bezuidenhout; 14 Du-Wayne Smart, 13 Ashwin Scott, 12 Jevon Botha, 11 Shaun Venter; 10 Ricardo Croy, 9 Tian Meyer; 8 Junior Bester, 7 Eduan van der Walt, 6 Corné Steenkamp, 5 Marius Coetzer, 4 Luhan Velthuizen, 3 Ashley Buys, 2 Hannes Franklin (c), 1 Dawie Steyn.
Subs: 16 Torsten van Jaarsveld, 17 Ronnie Uys, 18 Willem Serfontein, 19 Doppies le Roux, 20 Jacques Coetzee, 21 Elgar Watts, 22 Allistair Ketteldas.
