New team to front Namibia
19 Jul 2010
Fifteen changes have been made to the SA U18 side for Tuesday’s clash with Namibia.
Following their 25-5 victory over France last week, the starting XV has been rested for this Friday’s game against England. William Small-Smith will captain the side from outside centre.
This will provide a whole new group of youngsters with the opportunity to represent their country. The match will be played at Outeniqua Park in George and kicks off at 15:25.
SA U18 – 15 Siviwe Soyizwapi, 14 Richmond Collins, 13 William Small-Smith, 12 Patrick Howard, 11 Leroy Bitterhout, 10 Marais Schmidt, 9 Rudi van Rooyen, 8 Nardus van der Walt, 7 Fabian Booysen, 6 Khaya Majola, 5 Etienne Oosthuizen, 4 Pieter du Toit, 3 Tsepo Motale, 2 Justin Thomas, 1 Ekkerd Thomas.

Hopefully we can get a sense of our best starting 15…
I must say that Paul Jordaan deserves to start ahead of Jho against England. Jordaan has really impressed me even though Jho has a years worth of SA schools experience!
But I say that assuming William Small-Smith will be starting on Friday…
Anyway, whoever plays… Looking forward to seeing these guys play in the future!

Another thing…
The Bulls signed last years SA Schools inside centre – Franscois Venter (who also represented SA u/20 this year) from Free State…
Now they have signed Andile Jho who is an inside centre as well…
Seriously… 1 year age difference?
Anyway…. lets hope the best is brought out of both players through the Bulls structures.

@Gambit25(Gambit25)-2: From what I’ve seen, Jho has always looked more like an outside centre. He is strong and has a terrific eye for a space with the speed to use it. Have Venter inside him (who is pure class) to put him away and that could be a devastating center pairing.

A few years ago… Grey College gave us great flanks in Brussouw and Stegmann.
Now, they are producing brilliant midfield talent… Francois Venter and Piet Lindeque 1 year and Paul Jordaan and William Small-Smith a year later together with a great flyhalf in Johan Goosen!
Gotta love Grey for what they do for SA rugby…
Have your say
