Wynberg fought their way back from a 24-3 deficit to beat hosts SACS 26-24 on Saturday.
SACS played with a strong northerly wind in the first half and scored three tries through left wing Luca Rizzo in 10 minutes, the first two coming from turnovers in Wynberg territory. But the visitors finished the half strongly, with left wing Ayanda Hess scoring a try to make it 24-11 at the break.
Wynberg scrumhalf Dylan Frylinck scored the first try of the second half when he broke around a ruck, which was followed by a five-pointer from SA Schools flank Sikhumbuze Notshe. Frylinck missed the conversion that would have given his side the lead but made no mistake with a penalty with 10 minutes to go.
SACS attacked hard in the last five minutes but let themselves down with poor handling and decision making.
