I think you’ll find his deal is for 3 years and not 2:

“Last September – a month before he was named Australia’s Rookie of the Year – O’Connor committed his immediate future to the Force, re-signing until the end of 2011 for a reported A$1.2 million (R7.2 million).”

I still can’t believe he hasn’t been moered into a 6 month injury by a big over zealous All Black/South African forward. Kid is very brave/tough to compete at his age/size.

@RugbyRulz(RugbyRulz)-14: I converted it to pounds sterling (not familiar with rand figures), if he is getting that amount it means he is paid more than Hayman's 350k GBP last year which is pretty extraordinary for a teenage player. One assumes his marketability will have played a factor, I think he'll be at his best when he fills out enough to play in the centres.

@Big Hit(Big Hit)-12: Dunno what he is on, I used the above quoted time and $s to work it out. 2 Years at Au$1.2 million = 600K per annum. You load up your converter for Rand. All I know is he is quite right in getting the best possible deal, knowing his rugby career is 0 - 10 years.

Oh come on. This guy is so over rated. I saw that hat rick and they were all run-ins from 5m out. He’s not bad but in my opinion, when the Wallabies are at full stregth he shouldn’t be in the 22.

When he’s older maybe.

O’Connor is currently a jack of all trades but master of none, he’s not the complete article at full-back, not a natural wing and not yet physical enough for centre. Still, he has time to develop I guess.
