John Smit has undergone successful surgery but won’t make the Grand Slam tour.

The Bok captain has been ruled out for three months after undergoing an operation to repair a chronic cervical disc.

‘The op will also ensure John’s availability for the Springboks and the Sharks for the 2011 season,’ said team doctor Craig Roberts. ‘The timing was right for John to undergo surgery as he will now have a prolonged period of recovery in advance of the new season.

‘This was not a career threatening injury.’

    barney couldnt catch me if he tried…..even with these 47 year old knees i will outpace him over the 1 st 100m…..

    and i reckon both plod and i cant handle much more than a 100m sprint….so i am safe…

    Percy’s biggest mistake was having Tasmin tattoed on his abdomen, actually the tattoo on his back is a bit dodgy too!!

    Get better Smit and lead the Boks in 2011. The rest will do you good.

    du Plessis is going nowhere. He gets the best game time with The Sharks plus the franchise is recognised worldwide. What better place to earn your keep and get a Bok cap.

    Going to Province is as good as going into retirement…ask Ross Skeate..he escaped in time.
