Elsom, Giteau to front Boks

Elsom, Giteau to front Boks

Rocky Elsom and Matt Giteau will represent the Barbarians when they play South Africa at Twickenham on 4 December.

The Aussie pair featured in all three of the Tri-Nations matches against the Springboks in 2010, and played a crucial role in the winning of the Mandela Plate. They will join the Barbarians once their commitments on the Wallabies’ European tour conclude.

Wales centre Gavin Henson could also play against the Boks in this match if he passes a fitness test. Mike Phillips is another Welshman who makes the cut, while the team will be coached by the South African duo of Nick Mallett (currently coaching Italy) and Alan Solomons (the EP Kings’ director of rugby).

We need them on our side..wait that won’t work cos they’ll have the talent coached out of them..

  • 8.Great White Shark: Reply to this comment

    Plumtree for coach.

  • 9.goyougoodthing2: Reply to this comment

They probably only need 2 blokes to beat the “boks”, but give them 3, 2 to scrum and one to feed the ball. Rest should be easy.

Mallett isn’t a bad coach by any stretch..he’s proven himself time and time again.

This game is certainly going to sort the men from the squeaky mouse..

White, Mallett, Eddie Jones – now thats a coaching team. We definately have the players. We just need to use them effectively.

For RHYS7…why on earth would the Barbarians want to use any discarded Springboks for the match. Come on, they SA have shown their worth in the recent TN comp. Useless. So we dont want to spoil the spectacle of the Boks being done again. Then again they could ask the AB’s to join the Baabaa’s, then it would definitely be a win for the Baabaa’s.

@Rhys7(Rhys7)-12: I’d go Anthony Faingaa (inside centre) rather than Saia, for a bit of excitement.
Would be better off getting a big French or Argie hooker to bulk up the pack.
Is Ibanez still rumbling around up North?

    Barbarian coaches both Saffa’s.

I thought these pricks got a fair suck of the saveloy last year!

So what will we have THIS year?……….another Team stacked with their relatives from SA, and their pet players from Italy!

Whatever happened to the Barbarians being a Quasi Lions Team, with one or two imports.
A chance for the Northerners to strike back with flair and passion.

  • 28.Slartibartfast: Reply to this comment

Yes Pops, I understand you prefer to “eerder ‘n skaap te stoet” but please can you keep your fantacies to yourself. I am really not interested in them.

By the way, wtf is a spineless dustbin?

@Slartibartfast(Slartibartfast)-29: well, my apologies for not being able to converse properly in a language I really dont understand, at least I tried..

think about it, dustbin = trash??

I mean, it takes a real man to insult someone in a language foreign to them aye?

  • 30.Slartibartfast: Reply to this comment

No, a dustbin is a receptacle for tra…ag never mind, I get it, you were trying very hard to insult me. Sorry, it got lost in translation, next time just stick to English.

I told you yesterday this is a South African blog, if you have a problem with Afrikaans then don’t visit.

This is also now the second time you called me a racist, feel free to point me at any of my posts that support the fact that I made a racist comment and/or that I am racist. If you can’t find any I expect an apology from you.

As for the insults, or poor attempt at them anyway, feel free to point me to my posts where I did that to you. Again, it is not the first time you have done this so I am starting to wonder about your motives.

    Slartibartfast

    Post 20 for example.

Anyways, this site has only confirmed the impression formulated in 81 of SA society, much to my disappointment.

So enjoy your south african website. I came here to talk rugby initially, but after 3 years of constant degradation you too would have had a gutsful.

The new SA. What a joke. Same old master race philosophy.

    E noho ra.

  • 32.Slartibartfast: Reply to this comment

What is racist about post 20?

The Pops that came here 3 years ago did talk a lot of rugby but somewhere along the line he stopped and started off on another tangent. I have been saying it since I came back but to no avail. I was met with abuse on more than one occassion.

Anyway, basing your opinion of South Africans on what you saw on tv in 81, some youtube clips and a SA blog about rugby, well what can I say? Maybe it is time for you to get out a little, see the world, meet people…

You see, if I had to base my view on Kiwis solely on what I get from you and Blackpantie on keo I would probably also end up with a skewed view of ALL Kiwis just like you. Luckily I have met a large number of Kiwis in my lifetime and I know you are the exception rather than the rule.
