Blitzboks cruise into quarters

The Springboks Sevens side completed their unbeaten run in the Commonwealth Games preliminaries with a convincing 21-5 win over Wales.

Wales scored the game’s first try, but a three-score reply by the Boks saw them into a commanding 21-5 lead by half-time. The result sees them finishing at the top of their pool. They will play Scotland in Tuesday’s Cup quarter-final.

Earlier in the day, South Africa won their first game against Tonga 27-0 before going on to smash tournament hosts, India 59-0.

There is a Gold Medal up for garbs here.

I rate a Commonwealth Games Gold Medal for 7′s, higher than The 7′s WC (held by Wales).

My Picks. (early days I know).

    Gold. Samoa.
    Silver. NZ.
    Bronze. SA.

AS I have it the eight teams to go through:

    SA against Scotland
    NZ against Wales
    Kenya against Aus
    Eng against Samoa

It looks like a semi-final against NZ

    Tuesday’s games:

    Quarterfinals:
    New Zealand vs Wales
    England vs Samoa
    Kenya vs Australia
    South Africa vs Scotland

    Semifinals:
    New Zealand/Wales vs England/Samoa
    Kenya/Australia vs South Africa/Scotland

It seems that SA can reach the finals.

The world cup is a far bigger deal then the commonwealth games. Fiji consistently one of the greatest 7′s nations over the years and always in with a shot of winning any tournament they enter, have been thrown out of the commonwealth. Argentina have also won IRB tournaments, USA and France bring something to the tournaments as well. Wales winning the world cup kind of messed up the world cup’s status as being the big one a bit though!
