We kick off our Super Rugby preview section with an idiot’s guide to the new format (if you still don’t know how it works after reading this, we can’t help you). So much for brave Cricket by the Proteas!
340 was way to much on this pitch – Smith shouldve gave the Indians at least 280 to chase!
The usual useless Paul Harris couldnt grab a wicket on a pitch that was suitable for spinners! Damn even Greame Smith came out of bowling retirement for a few overs. Pietersen also got chance to show his off spinners!

Write it up to that non-black, super, conservative culture they have to grow up with.
The Mafia truly believes “white is might and RIGHT” so they are so s hit scared of losing even though they have done it often. They take that 2nd placing going for first so seriously that they could not even see England replace as the #2 test team and now that is the situation.
According to the Ashes commentators it is:
1. India 2. England 3. S.Africa.
If India have gone forward i.e. have a positive result from this series(now having drawn a series) then, ipso facto, the Proteas have gone backwards, i.e. have a negative result( having always won a home series vs. India).

That is incorrect.
England would only have gone ahead us had we lost.
And, ipso facto, a draw is not a negative result because the Indians are ranked higher than South Africa.

Then blame those commetators I listened to last evening(my time) as England wrapped up the Ashes 3-1 amid tremendous celebrations by the English hordes – great scenes of jubilations.
Mr. G., S.A. have always won a home series against India and if that is the criterion then a drawn series ia a backward step for the Proteas vs. India( I grin sheepishly here,(please note).

It is true that we have always beaten India at home.
However they are the top-ranked side for good reason.
Whilst a drawn series is a disappointment it can hardly be seen as a step backward.
If one good thing comes of this it will hopefully be that SA re-evaluates the role played by the spinner in the team.

Positive, sane conclusions especially about the spinner and thus zero disagreement with that from me.
What fact can be more telling than the 0/20plus for Harry as opposed to 7/100plus for Harbhas in that 2nd. innings, with both having about 30 overs?

the thing is harris was never picked or used as a wicket taking spinner.
his role was to “stop the game”.
in order for us to be more positive we need a more attacking spinner.

Yes that is so because the Smith Mafia bastardised the role of a spinner to suit their purposes.
What other national team has that role for a spinner.

ask the selectors.
johan botha is no wicket taker either.
hopefully they will they will move forward with tahir.

Not serious about the Smith jibe.
It is the selectors, including Smith, and some admin. people and all because they do not address the real problem(and of course you the of a lack of spinners and thus setting up spinner coaching clinics with set national goals.

Tahir will only last that long. What they should do is get him seriously involved with the coaching that needs to be set up.

it starts at schoolboy level.
captains don’t like to bowl spinners because they leak runs as they are learning their craft.
so the kids don’t want to bowl spin.
it carries on right up the food chain.

Correct and that is where you and your Baker’s project comes in but is now lacking(plus you have the English spinning experience which is probably more encouraging).
So Jojo get back to where you once belonged(Bakers).
