Aussie latest – Horne set for return
27 Jan 2011
Keo.co.za brings you news from Australia’s Super Rugby franchises.
Horne set for return - Waratahs centre Rob Horne will return from an elbow injury in time for their second trial match.
It was initially feared that the youngster would miss a significant part of the Super Rugby campaign, but the latest scans have revealed exceptional recovery.
‘He saw the specialist on Friday and he’s been given a clearance from the specialist to start contact training so he’ll start contact training this week,’ Tahs coach Chris Hickey told reporters.
‘Assuming that goes well then he’d be a chance of perhaps playing in the Force trial. Obviously we’re just going to have to see how the elbow progresses through contact.’
Reds run strong side - The Reds have named a number of Wallabies in their squad for the pre-season match against the Crusaders on Saturday.
Quade Cooper and Will Genia form the halfback pair, while there is also a start for Sevens star Liam Gill at flank.
Reds – Rod Davies, Aidan Toua, Digby Ioane, Will Chambers, Luke Morahan, Quade Cooper, Will Genia (vice-capt), Scott Higginbotham, Liam Gill, Radike Samo, Van Humphries, James Horwill (c), James Slipper, Saia Faingaa, Ben Daley.
Subs: Kimami Sitauti, Ben Tapuai, Mike Harris, Ian Prior, Leroy Houston, Lei Tomiki, Beau Robinson, Ben Coridas, David McDuling, Guy Shepherdson, James Hanson, Albert Anae, Greg Holmes

Red Dragons!
Reds are being silly. The Saders are not playing any of their usual starting 15. They are giving their reserves a run, with some youngster at 10, what is Genia and Cooper hoping to achieve against a green kid? Confidence?

@rossoneri(rossoneri)-1: Reds don’t really have any other options.
While they stacked up on props and locks in the off-season (the two areas they really struggled for depth last year), they are still weak on depth in every other position except wing.
Take flyhalf as the prime example. Their backup Ben Lucas has only ever played 9 at Super level, not 10.
What will they do if Quade gets injured? Or worse, reverts to his headless chook impersonations when under pressure?

The Reds usually play their strongest team and the Crusaders a weakened team, was the case last year as well. Ozmob will tell you it is also because they generally play less rugby than NZ, every extra game is still good for them.
