Keo.co.za brings you news from New Zealand’s Super Rugby franchises.
Slade blow for Landers – Colin Slade is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks after breaking his jaw during the Highlanders’ 31-29 defeat to the Blues last Saturday.
The flyhalf underwent surgery on Sunday to insert a metal plate after suffering broken jaw in the first quarter of the Highlanders’ first pre-season fixture in Balclutha.
New Highlanders head coach Jamie Joseph said his team will miss their playmaker, who was set to star this season.
‘It’s a big year for Colin, he showed glimpses of his brilliance yesterday, considering he hasn’t played rugby since the NPC final He’s just got to get himself right,’ said Joseph.
Lima Sopoaga and Robbie Robinson will now battle for the No 10 jersey ahead of the Highlanders’ Super Rugby opener against the Hurricanes on 18 February.
