Bulls pummel Premier XV
5 Feb 2011
The Bulls banished the memory of last week’s defeat by thrashing the Premier XV 68-5 in Nelspruit.
The Bulls were completely dominant in all facets of play, and never relinquished the choke hold they had established early in the match.
Debutant Bjorn Basson made an immediate impression, scoring a hat-trick, including a slick chip and chase. Morne Steyn never missed a kick in eight attempts. There were braces for Pierre Spies and Wynand Olivier, while Deon Stegmann and Derick Kuun got on the scoreboard as well.

5 Feb 2011, 21:29 pm
Nothing game.
5 Feb 2011, 21:55 pm
Name a couple of the big names in the Premier XV please.

@>^..^< katman(katman)-4:
The Bulls went at them with basically a full strength team.
They weren’t going to take any chances this time around.
Would’ve shaken their confidence to the core.

@I am a stormer(I am a stormer)-5: I mean, who was in the Premier XV?
5 Feb 2011, 22:11 pm
@>^..^< katman(katman)-6:
Found it eventually. Ummm, ja. I don’t recognise too many of those names.
Premier XV packed with Pumas – As expected, the Pumas in the guise of the Premier XV will tackle the Bulls at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
Coach Jimmy Stonehouse has included the two new Pumas acquisitions, Hans van Dyk and JW Jonker, in the line-up. Van Dyk played for the Bulls against the Kings last week.
Premier XV – 15 Johan Jackson, 14 Wilhelm Loock, 13 JW Jonker, 12 Dewald Pretorius, 11 Deon Scholtz, 10 Coenie van Wyk, 9 Tian Meyer, 8 Eduan van der Walt, 7 Jaco Bouwer, 6 Corné Steenkamp (captain), 5 Marius Coetzer, 4 Andries Kruger, 3 Ashley Buys, 2 Hannes van Dyk, 1 Dawie Steyn.
Subs: 16 Brett Nel, 17 De Jay Terblanche, 18 Michael Rice, 19 JP Mostert, 20 Shaun Venter, 21 Tiaan Marx, 22 Charl Bezuidenhout.

Bully brekers must be real proud of themselves at this scintillating performance against a bunch of no hoper nobodies
5 Feb 2011, 22:37 pm
Same Pumas who klapped the Kings?
Anyway, the only remotely significant implication of this game is that there were apparently no serious injuries.
5 Feb 2011, 22:39 pm
@skopiskoobidoo(ilanjo)-8: You know Skop, Sometimes playing these nobodies, help the confidence, why I have no idea, but it DOES. First of all they don’t lose and they have no player out injured. I think maybe those Bulls are onto something us (Stormers/Sharks/Lions) have missed hey!
5 Feb 2011, 22:54 pm
@Tacitus(Tacitus)-9: no, same Pumas that beat the Blue Bulls @ mbombela stadium last year
5 Feb 2011, 23:12 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-11:
I trust that settles it then. Going by that comparison, the Bulls A team is about 60 points better than the B team.
So stop bothering me every time the Bulls second stringers lose a game. Every time it happens you assume that its a big deal, when it is not.
5 Feb 2011, 23:30 pm
i haven’t made any assumptions Tac, wait till i do
i’m happy for the Bulls
5 Feb 2011, 23:45 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-13: would you say that bjorn is considered a hott ie in pretoria after this performance transie?

@rangerman(rangerman)-14: umbombho wakho is a ho ttie…no chew on that sh*t..

Look at the tinkerbelles now saying its a nothing game.
Last week when the Kings beat the Bulls it was suddenly this huge thing, the biggest game ever in the history of rugby. Now that the Bulls win, its suddenly only a warm up game.
Bunch of morons.

Well I said it after last year’s CC: This year the Bulls will be at their peak. The only problem is this:
The Sharks will be real contenders after last year’s failure.
The Lions will be way better. Mitchell will not let them be an embarrassment.
Western Province as a union is on the rise. Fact! I do not know about this year’s Super 15 though. It will be more difficult for them to reach the same heights as last year. I know people will say that is not logical, but in sport the 2nd season blues are a reality.
Cheetahs under Drotske will not show much difference than in previous years.
I therefore think SA rugby is at its peak, but taking the new format into account the Bulls/ Sharks or Stormers may need to go and win a final in Sydney/ Brisbane or Christchurch.

@Transformation(Transformation)-16: so that was a yes then?
i only ask because i know habanero was considered a hott ie in pretoria.
now he is a nottie.
p.s. the adults are trying to show you how foolish you and rosso are being. i thought respect was part of your culture?
please dont try rape me(with words), i am no 80 yr old granny.
clear?
6 Feb 2011, 14:01 pm
@rangerman(rangerman)-19: resorting to useless stereotypes are we? tl tl tl…
adults, where?
6 Feb 2011, 14:16 pm
Morne Steyn never missed a kick in eight attempts
Really?
Ten tries and ten conversion add up to seventy not 68.
Also the half time score of 33 is also not possible unless a conversion was missed.
6 Feb 2011, 14:30 pm
the bulls and stormers to lead the way for sa in the s15 again.sadly the sharks are overrated and will be shown-up again as usual.
6 Feb 2011, 14:31 pm
Judging by the tweets on the Bulls website the Bus trip back from Nelspruit was quite a party. Very jovial, to say the least.
Looks like the team spirit is strong among the Bulls, going into this season.
Lekka.
6 Feb 2011, 14:37 pm
@racheltjiedebeer(racheltjiedebeer)-21: maybe because he did not take of the kicks – get it
6 Feb 2011, 14:40 pm
@RedLion is waiting …(RL)-24: My point is that the numbers don’t add up, regardless of who took the kicks.
6 Feb 2011, 14:41 pm
@RedLion is waiting …(RL)-24:
I think I read in the commentary on the Bulls blog that Morne missed one kick. Not that it matters, but just to end this debate before it picks up a life of its own.
6 Feb 2011, 14:44 pm
@racheltjiedebeer(racheltjiedebeer)-25:
Bulls 68 (33): Tries: Bjorn Basson (3), Pierre Spies (2) Morne Steyn, Wynand Olivier (2), Deon Stegmann and Derick Kuun. Conversions: Steyn (7), Francois Brummer (2)
Brummer missed one conversion – makes sense to me.
6 Feb 2011, 14:46 pm
@RedLion is waiting …(RL)-27:
On the Bulls blog, Steyn pulled the conversion of the second try to the left of the posts and the score was 12-0.
6 Feb 2011, 14:47 pm
@Tacitus(Tacitus)-26: okay so Steyn missed a kick.
6 Feb 2011, 14:48 pm
@RedLion is waiting …(RL)-29:
Ja, pretty irrelevent, but Racheltjie was obviously having a go at the deteriorating quality of the “articles” on this website.
6 Feb 2011, 14:54 pm
@RedLion is waiting …(RL)-27: That’s not what’s reported on this site.
6 Feb 2011, 14:55 pm
@Tacitus(Tacitus)-30: Eggzaggertly.
6 Feb 2011, 15:00 pm
@racheltjiedebeer(racheltjiedebeer)-31: That’s why 99% of the time I do not read the articles on here
6 Feb 2011, 15:02 pm
The standards have slipped dramatically on this website…
6 Feb 2011, 15:47 pm
@rangerman(rangerman)-19:
rosso got upset cause she wishes she was a hot.tie?
8)
6 Feb 2011, 20:25 pm
The Great White Sharks are nicely on track for a good Super 15.
Slowly slowly, quietly confident.
Sharks and Bulls to pull ahead of the slow dumb pack. We just gotta watch out for Reds, Rebels, Hurricanes and Crusaders.
6 Feb 2011, 21:51 pm
@Transformation(Transformation)-20: useless stereotypes?
huh?
care to expand on that transformation, seeing as how you and rossoneri have appointed yourselves as the arbiters of all things stereotypically south african.
so hott ie or nottie, which is it?
7 Feb 2011, 08:48 am
I wonder if Bakkies will be banned by the time the WC comes around? I don’t think he’ll last the first 4 games before he looses is again. The issue is that his replacements are just as thick. Danie and Flip… shame!
7 Feb 2011, 09:13 am
@garth(garth)-38: Someone who constructs a sentence like: “I don’t think he’ll last the first 4 games before he looses is again. ” calling others thick?
Oh the irony of it all.
7 Feb 2011, 10:04 am
@Taahirah(Taahirah)-39:
go easy on garf.
it’s not his fault
Have your say
