Rebels push Saders close
5 Feb 2011
The Melbourne Rebels went down 19-14 to the Crusaders in a Super Rugby warm-up match played on Saturday.
Stirling Mortlock had a hand in both of the Rebels’ tries, and the new Australian franchise led the much-fancied Crusaders at half-time. But the Saders hit back thanks to an Adam Whitelock brace and eventually clinched a tight contest. Over 13 000 people watched the game at AAMI Park.
The bad news for the Crusaders is that All Blacks fullback Israel Dagg left the field in the first half with a leg injury. The details on his availability will be made public soon.

LOL!!! This Super 15 is going to be very hard on personnel. A whole lot of our top players got some decent time off last season, let’s just hope this Super 15 doesn’t undo that rest…I see Matfield’s neck is still sore….good, let him rest for a good six weeks more, he needs a break, and ratheer now early in the season than breaking down later on.

hoping wee victoria doesn’t return for the boks. He is welcome to continue with the bulle.
Victoria is a very pap lock who spends his time stuffing up the backline. As bakkies say – victor doesnt always play in the backline.
Have a good long rest for sure.

No mention of Cips? perhaps he didn’t play. Interesting that Mortlock had a hand in two tries, wonder if he’s back to full fitness.

@Big Hit(Big Hit)-4: the 6 sentence report doesn’t mention much at all. Lazy cut and pasting.

@Big Hit(Big Hit)-4: By the looks of it, Cipriani was on the bench. Hilgendorf was at 10 and Huxley at 15.
Cooper Vuna is looking good for the Rebels – he played wing in rugby league and is now playing inside centre. Apparently a Nonu clone – 103 kg and powerful. Thats a powerful centre pairing along with Mortlock.

Keo, bud you need to lift your game. This site has become a headline site only. Three sentances does not make a news article!!

Interesting to find out if this was close to the Rebels’ A team, as Jarrod Saffy and Cipriani wer on the bench, and Rodzilla was the 4th pick prop according to their site.
@WOLFMAN21(WOLFMAN21)-6: I just hope he can keep it up during more serious games, as a lot of league players have had a habit of only looking good during lower games (Tahu was phenomenal for Aus A in the Oceanic Cup but complete rubbish for the Wallabies).
Have your say
