Kiwis rule in Wellington
5 Feb 2011
New Zealand completed an undefeated run at the Wellington Sevens with a 29-14 win over England in the Cup final.
The Kiwis delivered an emphatic display on their home turf, beating everybody on their way to the main prize. After easing past Wales (26-5) and Australia (17-0) in the Cup quarter-final and semi-final respectively on day two, they scored five tries in their convincing victory over England.
England opened the scoring with a Isoa Damu try but New Zealand secured a 12-7 half-time lead thanks to Declan O’Donnell and Toby Arnold. O’Donnell completed his hat-trick in the second stanza while Tomasi Cama also touched down to wrap up proceedings. Simon Hunt grabbed a consolation try for England.
Meanwhile, the Springbok Sevens disappointed with a poor campaign in Wellington.
After scraping through to the Cup play-offs on day one, the Blitzboks continued their inconsistency on the final day. They struggled to score against Australia in the Cup quarter-final and were knocked out after a 14-7 defeat. They then produced their best performance of the tournament against Wales with 22-5 victory in the Plate semi-final – unfortunately when it didn’t really matter anymore.
Then Fiji made light work of South Africa in the Plate final. The Pacific Islanders ran in four tries to secure a 26-12 win.
The Blitzboks suffered an early setback as Renfred Dazel was sent to the sin bin withing two minutes of play. Fiji capitalised as Mitieli Nacagilevu opened the scoring. The Blitzboks levelled matters as debutant Paul Jordaan touched down but Fiji scored again Watisoni Votu for a 14-7 lead at the break.
Skipper Kyle Brown brought his team within two points with an early try in the second stanza but thereafter it was all Fiji as Ilai Tinai and Peni Gaunimeke dotted down to seal the win.
New Zealand’s triumph sees them tied in first place with England on the World Series log with 64 points a piece, followed by Samoa (52) and Fiji (44). South Africa are fifth with 32 log points.
Blitzboks results on day two:
Cup quarter-final – South Africa 7 Australia 14
Plate semi-final – South Africa 22 Wales 5
Plate final – South Africa 12 Fiji 24

Ahh, another year of trials and tribulations, scorn and what could have been and the WC. It’s going to be a good one no doubt.

Aussies 14, Yarpies 7.
Also-rans.

Predictable result.

versus Fiji — 4 penalties and a yellow card conceded inside the first two minutes…
And the “Plate Final” is the consolation prize. SA couldn’t even win that. The big tough Polynesians scared them rigid, yet again. 26-12 hiding.

When you look at the stands and spectators you would think the *** parade invated the stands. How many spectators actually watch these games, looks more like one huge pi$$ up. Not just tonight, everytime.

It’s a huge Wellington fancy-dress street party and it’s great. Not like the staid, boring snorefest inflicted on the travelling players by sleepy one-horse George. And the spirit lifts NZ to win the title again.

Well done Kiwis
5 Feb 2011, 11:56 am
Tackler maybe you can help me out with this one. I have a few Kiwi mates, more than two : ).
Only one of them maybe wants to move back to NZ some of theml want to stay in Europe and the ones that’s been to SA want to move there, but not one of them can give me a good answer. Being an ex-yarpie yourself I thought you might be able to shed some light on it.

How is it possible that the same coach that took the Boks to a 7′s trophy in 2009 has not won anything since?
The Kaaiwaais have had the same 7′s coach for years.

@JA-JA(JA-JA)-8:
The rest want to move to Oz. I had a colleague in the NZ SAS that has a holiday home somewhere in OZ….now why would he need a holiday home in OZ when he has so many great places to choose from in Kaaiwaailand?

Here’s what they’ve done in a nutshell:
They have asked some of their staff to deal with their passion gaps, that is to demonstrate that they are planning to get false teeth.
In Bloubergstrand, CT South Africa
Meanwhile, tackler’s existence of meaninglessnes continues. Lives in NZ, hoping, yearning, aching for SA’s demise… Talk about unresolved issues…

Hi there Carol!
Compliments, supplments etc for 2011
As an established blogger by now here on keo and elsewhere: do you know what a ‘passion gap’ is ?
5 Feb 2011, 12:55 pm
@Sheriff(Sheriff)-15:
No idea Sheriff, I would have to google it!!
I have a friend who suffers from it, but she eats too many cakes!! Think that contributes to her ‘Passion Gap’, what is your take?
5 Feb 2011, 13:00 pm
@Sheriff(Sheriff)-13: look it’s Eminem himself
hahaha
5 Feb 2011, 13:07 pm
@carol(carol)-16:
Ok no problem I’ll explain.
When you refresh now again, look at Victor Matfield’s teeth.
Now if his front teeth were missing he would have a ‘passion gap’

SA unions need to release fringe players in order for 7′s to get a boost again.in 2008/9 when we won it the squad had the likes of Floors,Eberson,Burger,Stick,Mokuena,Mbiyozo,Aplon etc
Likes of Akona Ndungane,Nokwe could be used for portion of series to get bk into shape,fringe players like Mjekevu,Chavanga,Piet Myburgh,CJ Stander,Sampie Mastriet,Yaya Hartzenberg,Nizaam Car etc do be released etc
5 Feb 2011, 13:18 pm
@Sheriff(Sheriff)-19: lekker man, ka nie kla nie, hoe gaan dit met jou!

Watch out for England again. This might be their forth final.
5 Feb 2011, 15:04 pm
Oh well at least the Boks won a game at Wellington Stadium… come September it may not happen again.

@Hop Hop Spinnekop(Hop Hop Spinnekop)-5: They get dressed up so they can lure the foreigners into sleeping with them. Beer googles and fancy dress gets many a hobbit laid.

Nice, nothing on the Sharks stormers game. Awesome job Keo.

@TheTackler(TheTackler)-4:
South Africa may well have faced up to the odd Polynesian in Wellington, but not one of them was playing for Fiji.
5 Feb 2011, 22:22 pm
I don’t understand why someone from the provincial sevens competition can’t be promoted up to national coach. How does it make sense for Paul Treu to remain for so long when his team is no longer improving. They have just been getting worse over the last year and a half.
This is further evidence that results are not a priority for SARU. That is escpecially dissapointing considering sevens is now an olympic sport.
5 Feb 2011, 22:56 pm
NZ versus Fiji competing for Olympic gold…
SA out of the medals entirely.
6 Feb 2011, 10:20 am
.@TheTackler(TheTackler)-4: Fijians are predominantly of Western Pacific Melanesian ancestry not Polynesian.
Titchens spotted Declan O’Donnell at a club game in Te Rapa. He rates him .
O’Donnell’s got higher honours written all over him.

Yeah, it’s a good look for the NZ youth when the vast majority of lock-ups for the week-end are pissssed chicks. Bombed out of their heads on live TV…. epic stuff.
Well done to NZ on the win though, looked really good. A big fat rasberry to the Soamoan d ickhead who deliberately kicked the Pommie in the head. Hope he gets life! What a ****!
6 Feb 2011, 23:39 pm
True needs to deliver on results or get fired.
As the largest rugby playing nation on earth it is unacceptable to keep undelivering on results.
He seems like a great bloke but nice is not in the job description.
6 Feb 2011, 23:44 pm
@sharks_lover(sharks_lover)-12:
.
Hmmmm i have been away for 2 months yet nothing really changes.
People still harping on about not being at the RWC 1987 reasons as to why NZ won yet when you look at the big picture, the bitching people on here (Sharks_lover) should blame themselves,NZ didnt make you racist
Aghhh its good to be back

@Brads(Brads)-30: is that like a kiwi getting his hands on the CC without playing a game in the winning season (2010)?
or all those Zimbos that play for SA? hmmmm cant see the difference myself..
7 Feb 2011, 08:45 am
Can go on and on about, 87, 95, 07, poison and chokers. But at the end of the day, Peter DeVilliers is the coach of the Springboks.

You think?
My post was a response to Tacklers comment that the SA boys lost to Fiji because were scared off by the big tough Polynesians.
What the hell has the CC or Zims playing for SA got to do with what I posted?
