Mermoz crocked – French centre Maxime Mermoz hurt his left shoulder during Saturday’s match against Scotland and will be out for the rest of the Six Nations.
A scan on Mermoz’s shoulder showed severe ligament damage and he will undergo surgery. He’s now in a race to be fit for the World Cup later this year.
The 70-cap veteran Yannick Jauzion, who was surprisingly overlooked for the clash with Scotland, has been named as Mermoz’s replacement in the French squad.
Stoddart out with hand injury – Wales wing Morgan Stoddart will not be playing against Scotland this weekend after breaking a bone in his hand in Friday night’s match against England.
Stoddart, who came into the side due to injuries to Leigh Halfpenny and George North, scored Wales’ only try in their 26-19 defeat to the English. Wales physiotherapist, Mark Davies, says it’s still too soon to say how long Stoddart will be sidelined.
Wales No 8 Andy Powell is another injury concern after leaving the field with a hurt shoulder. A scan on Monday will determine the extent of the injury.
Gori out, Parisse in doubt – Italy scrumhalf Edoardo Gori dislocated his shoulder in Saturday’s 13-11 defeat to Ireland and is out for the rest of the Six Nations.
The injury to Gori has led to coach Nick Mallett calling the uncapped Fabio Semenzato into the Italian squad. The more experienced Pablo Canavosio is still a feature in the squad and is Gori’s likely replacement in the starting line-up with Semenzato on the bench.
Captain Sergio Parisse is also struggling with a finger injury which could also see him sidelined for the match against the Poms.

Powell was poor anyway. Ryan Jones was a vast improvement and Wales are better off with him.
