Aus latest – Cross to face familiar foes
8 Feb 2011
Keo.co.za brings you news from Australia’s Super Rugby franchises.
Cross to face familiar foes – Ryan Cross will start for the Waratahs at centre against his former team the Western Force on Thursday.
Cross will partner Tom Carter in the midfield, meaning Lachie Turner will return to the wing. Turner displaces Afa Pakalani, who will now play for the Junior Waratahs against Western Force A in the curtain raiser.
Wallabies Benn Robinson (calf) and Rob Horne (elbow) have been left out of the match day squads because of minor niggles, but will continue to train with the team in the lead-up to the match.
Waratahs – 15 Kurtley Beale, 14 Lachie Turner, 13 Ryan Cross, 12 Tom Carter, 11 Drew Mitchell, 10 Berrick Barnes, 9 Luke Burgess, 8 Wycliff Palu, 7 Phil Waugh (c), 6 Ben Mowen, 5 Dean Mumm, 4 Kane Douglas, 3 Al Baxter, 2 Tatafu Polota-Nau, 1 Sekope Kepu.
Subs: TBA

Cross was a smart buy.
Horne will be injured a lot again, and Tom Carter will be pedestrian as always. Unless they move Berrick to 12 again to accommodate Halangahu, Cross may end up playing every minute of every game.
@cane(cane)-1: Love it

@bryce_in_oz(bryce_in_oz)-5: The Rebels v Tahs? I’m thinking the same thing.
Tahs have the much stronger side on paper (13 Wallabies in their starting side), but the Rebels have looked quite strong and a lot better prepared in their trial matches.
Bring on the new season!
