Aussie latest – Brumbies go big

Keo.co.za brings you the latest news from Australia’s Super Rugby franchises.

Brumbies go big – The Brumbies are set to announce the physically imposing Ita Vaea in their run on side for the season opener against the Chiefs.

The 22-year-old Tongan No 8 replaces Stephen Hoiles, who will come back from pre-season back and Achilles tendon surgery off the bench.

Lock Mark Chisholm said: ‘He’s big, he’s powerful, that’s all you need to know. He’s been outstanding in the pre-season.

‘You can’t really replace a Stephen Hoiles with the leadership he gives. In saying that, Ita Vaea’s been training the house down all pre-season. In the games he’s just getting better.’

In other team news, Fijian winger Henry Speight is expected to debut, while Australia U20 Player of the Year Robbie Coleman will make his first start at inside centre.
