Central University of Technology beat Wits 42-36 to remain the only unbeaten team in the Varsity Shield after round four on Monday.
Wits relinquished a 22-20 half-time lead in Johannesburg as CUT clinched the eight-try thriller in the second stanza. CUT skipper Inus Kritzinger was the star for the visitors as he grabbed a second-half brace to seal the win.
Meanwhile, UKZN picked up their first victory of the campaign as they beat winless Fort Hare 22-16 in Pietermaritzburg. Impis built a commanding lead at the break as they were 22-3 ahead thanks to flanker Lwazi Ngcungama and the boot of fullback Jaco Potgieter.
However, Fort Hare delivered an impressive second-half performance as they kept the hosts scoreless and grabbed two tries to add respectability to the score.

@gunther(gunther)-1: Wow. Do I sense resentment?
Will be interesting this year. Shimlas to win the Cup and CUT to win the Shield. Cheetahs to win the S15.
Have your say
