Chapman cops short ban

Brumbies loose forward Mitchell Chapman received a one-week ban for striking flyhalf Danny Cipriani during the 25-24 defeat to the Rebels.

After the Friday clash, Mitchell was cited for recklessly striking Cipriani’s right eye with an open hand in the 10th minute of the second half. The former was found guilty by Sanzar Judicial Officer Campbell Thomson on Saturday and it was decided that a one-week ban was the appropriate punishment.

Last week, Hurricanes centre Ma’a Nonu was also cited for a shoulder charge on Highlanders scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan. Nonu was found guilty and also received a one-week ban.
