NZ latest – Saders may host London match

Keo.co.za brings you news from New Zealand’s Super Rugby franchises.

Saders may host London match – While the Crusaders have already begun their stint in Nelson with a win, there are plans afoot to host future games in London and Auckland.

The AMI Stadium is unavailable due to last month’s earthquake and engineers are still assessing the damage to see if the stadium will be fixed during the Crusaders’ 2011 campaign.

CEO Hamish Riach said they have some potentially exciting commercial opportunities but also need to include their own franchise partners. Riach added that a game in Timaru is also a possibility.

Meanwhile, New Zealand Prime Minister John Key said he should know within a few weeks whether the stadium can be repaired sufficiently to host World Cup matches later this year. Five group matches and two quarterfinals are scheduled to be played at the Christchurch venue.
